High School Students Build Prototype Portable Hydroelectric Generator

Sharing is caring!

Two high school students are currently working on small and portable hydroelectric generator intended for use by campers. Their device can fit into a backpack and once tethered to a stable object, such as a rock or perhaps with a stake into the stream or riverbed, the internal battery is capable of fully charging a cell phone or similar portable device up to 3 times. While currently just in the prototype stages, with some further refining and perhaps the ability to secure it behind a boat or kayak, it could be a pretty cool gadget to make sure you have the ability to charge your cell phone, tablet, or even DSLR batteries if you are a photographer.
