The New Hampshire House voted to legalize marijuana. This would allow anyone 21 and over to have up to 1 ounce of weed for recreational use and grow up to 6 plants. The plan calls for a $30 per ounce retail tax.
The bill still has to pass the Senate, and the Governor said she would veto the bill if it passes the Senate. (which in this author’s opinion is political suicide given that the legalization ball is rolling across the USA with a ferver and has gained much momentum and the approval of the American public in the last few years.)
Colorado and Washington has legalize marijuana for recreational use and 25 other states have already decriminalized, or outright legalized marijuana for medicinal purposes. Recreational legalization will follow quickly.
The legalization of marijuana (and hemp) in the USA will happen very soon. We have reached the tipping point on marijuana prohibition. It’s going to be legalized, and politicians who stand in the way are probably basically signing away their next terms in office given the fact public opinion on cannabis has already shifted to decriminalization and straight up legalization in some states as evidenced.
Not to mention Hemp. Hemp has thousands of industrial uses from insulation to building materials to fabrics, plastics and even cars. Hemp is sustainable and renewable.
The need for such a product in this economy is massively overdue. It’s time. Decades of criminalization for a medicinal plant is too long.
Marijuana is here to stay.
